Shhhh! I’m a day late but pretend this is on time!
Today I am going to be showing you my entry for Day 4 of this wonderful challenge – Black and Gold.
Now in my head, I had this one all planned out. Matte black nails with gold designs including dots, stripes and maybe a hint of matte gradient. For some reason, this didn’t quite go to plan – hence the late post. I tried 7 different gold polishes but each one looked silver on camera or after the matte topcoat. If you’re going to do black and gold nails, they have to be done properly. By properly I mean they have to actually look black and gold…
So back to the design stage and once again by Primark nail art wheel was calling me. I decided to go for a gold bead placement nail. There’s just something about glitter and bead placements, they may take a while but the end result is so elegant and adds a sprinkle of ‘wow’ factor. I took a much-loved macro to appreciate this moment.
As my base colour, I used ‘Liquid Vinyl’ by Orly. I absolutely love this polish! I snapped it up at a bargain price of £2 in TKMaxx (it was in a £4 two-set polish) and I’ve drooled over it’s killer back shade ever since. It also dries really quickly.
I spiced up my mani a bit more with a sparkly gradient. I used a mini OPI gold glitter (I’ll get back to you on the name, it was part of the Mariah Carey Christmas set 😀 ) and a polish by Flormar (shade 394) which is almost like a gold holo polish with tints of red, blue and green, depending on the lighting.
In case you’re wondering, I took these macro shots with a macro iPhone lens so the quality isn’t the best (due to the iPhone camera) but you can still appreciate the amazing glitter shot ❤
I probably wouldn’t do this design exactly the same next time. I would stick to an accent nail rather than alternate between gradient and beads but this challenge is a learning game.
That’s all for today’s post! Hopefully I’ll get back on track with the challenge but I have a busy week lined up so we shall see! In the mean time, check out the other designs I the linkup and be sure to join I at any point! Click the image below to visit the reference page for all the details!

I’m back with a new post! Today I’ve decided to do a post on my top 5 polishes from the month of April!
1. Sally Hansen Insta-dri
I’ve seen that these Sally Hansen polishes are quite popular in the US but I’ve been unable to find them here in the UK until now. I finally found a few random colours of this polish in Poundland for a price of, you guessed it, one pound each! I got quite excited and bought two different shades – Peachy Breeze (a peach coral) and Racey Rouge ( a dark pinky red). I love these colours and they are perfect for adding a little brightness to your nails in spring. I used both colours and a new nail art technique to create some nails at the beginning of the month which I will be posting soon!
2. Barry M magnetic polish
Magnetic polish isn’t so popular now but, I still love it! My favourite magnetic polish last month was Magnetic Blue by Barry M because it reminds me of denim and matches denim material perfectly. I also have the star effect magnet and some Avon magnet wands which I still have to review but I love using the striped magnet!
3. Seche Vite top coat
When I posted my battle of the top coats review of this polish, I wasn’t that impressed and didn’t see what all the fuss was about with this polish. My opinion has changed and it’s fair to say that this is now my favourite top coat! It dries very quickly! I always managed to smudge my nail designs in the past which is pretty annoying after spending hours on nail art. Seche Vite solves this problem and my designs are sealed with an amazing gloss finish!
4. Nails inc. April Diary Polish
I’ve been using this bright coral polish a lot recently. It’s one of my favourite colours by nails inc. You can read my recent review here.
5. Love & Peace & OPI
I created a post on this polish in my Countdown to Christmas series. I received this amazing polish (from my even more amazing best friend, Zara 😉 so thank you!) in December and I’ve used it quite a few times now. It’s an eggplant holographic polish which is great for sunny days because the polish seems like it changes colour depending on the light and the angle that you look at your nails.
That’s it for my top five polishes of last month! I hope you enjoyed reading this post as it’s something a bit different! Let me know, as always, if you have any suggestions or designs that you would like to see! Thanks for reading 😀
